In short whats happening with the jib stick debate?
If we are going forward with them then is the launching system going to be regulated? Will it be along boom like the Merlin Rocket or up the mast (think slightly easier) like on the Grad? Anyone know anything?

What happens if you are sailing in a handicap fleet whilst sporting a fly away jib stick? Is the PY number likely to change?

The PY will not change as this is only making the Ent a little quick. about a boat length on a downwind leg.

The fact there is so much debate about whether a fly away pole makes the Ent faster or not suggests that, as enterprisenw surmises, the effect is small. As regards PYs it is my belief the way the RYA runs the handicapping system is a shambles. Other classes have made sigificant changes to their boats without penalty. The Phantom has changed to carbon spars, mylar main, self draining cockpit, epoxy hull...... without any alteration of their PY! Have a look on any club site to see how they do in handicap races.
