Many people don't use enough kicker when beating in a force 4 - 7 wind. Make sure you make your boom bend. Downhall has to be applied 5 inches. When a force 7 gust comes point your boat into the wind. your jib may go inside out but your boat will be flat. when the gust has gone bear off and increase boat speed. It saves letting your main out, which you may not be able to do has the gust is too strong, capsize or let your jib out. this is all slow and waste of time and energy!!!
