Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has used a non-wire halyard
for jib/main or both? I used to use something like
Marlow Excel V12 2.5mm on my 505 with good results.
Main benefit being of course that there is no need
for swaging, in addition to weight benefits. Is this
legal on Ents?

Cheers

Craig

Hi Craig,

No expert, but apparently choice of material for running rigging is optional (rule 16).

http://www.sailing.org/classes/classrules/2002/Enterprise99.PDF

However, as you can't use a muscle box or similar to adjust the rig tension and are limited to a highfield lever (rule 18E3), I can't see how a rope jib halyard could work.

Let us know if you find a solution.

Colin

Non-stretch rope on the main works fine. Only problem is getting the sail bang on the black band on every hoist.
