The proctor D+ Sleeved mast is everybody's first chioce of mast. I sail with a super Spar its good. The boats with the Proctor D+ Sleeved seem to plane Faster, Point higher and achieves more power. I do feel this is a serios advantage. Do you agree.

The only time i seem to keep with them is in light airs. It seems to me. If you have a new plastic boat and a proctor mast, you really do have more of a chance of winning.

The proctor boys know something. they have stopped all post on this one. I have sailed with my Superspar at the weekend with the proctors in wind and there seems to be little difference. I didn't get on plane as as quick!!

I have never noticed much difference between the superspar and proctor rigs or, for that matter, between Speed and North sails. Dare I suggest that this could be ahem, a weight issue?

When I sail with my 7 1/2 stone teenage daughter in marginal planing conditions we are usually towards the front of the fleet because we get the boat on the plane quicker and can keep there longer. Of course, its a different story as the breeze gets stronger, forcing us to into spilling wind and untidy jibes and tacks. We fall back - or capsize.

Quiet days also suit us although the difference is perhaps less noticeable.

Don't think there is much difference in performance. I use a Proctor though because less seems to go wrong with them. Not major issues just niggles which I am sure Super Spar could easily sort out. e.g. Swage gets stuck on main pulley, would be better to have sheave for main halyard exit rather than small loose block, halyard wire loops seem to get stuck on inside of mast when under tension, speader end plates need to be fitted when shroud made.

Took the masts (Super Spar)from out two club boats to be checked over at 1st Mark. The reason the halyards were getting caught inside the mast was that they had cut a V shaped groove in the inner sleeve. Thought to have been caused by using WD40 as a lubricant and this attracts sand which abrades the sleeve.
