Cestrian	Posted - 10/28/2008 : 17:28:49 Just a thought, as we have a top healm award, would there be much pretige (maybe) in having a Top Club. It could be based on the sum of the points of the top three boats from each club at each event. It wouldn't necesserily have to be the same boats just two/three finishers from each club. I think this would benefit all the events by encouraging inclusion on a club basis rather than being very individual as it seems to be now. I have ran a few numbers on this based on results of Elton Top two boats from each club based on clubs with 2 or more boats Where a boat is a composite of two clubs I have taken the first club name assuming this is the club of the healm I have filteredout all boats from one club and those that have finished outside the top two in their club (this stops clubs flooding the events and should keep the points totals a lot closer throughout the season which makes it more exciting) Results would be as follows Paul Brotherton Steve Jobson Etherow 1 Charles Adams Hannah Adams WLYC 2 Steve Blackburn Nick Hampson WLYC 3 Karen Morris Lisa Woods Etherow 4 A Bell R Coleman Chester 5 Tim Finch Jackie Finch Chester 6 Geoff McClardy Scott Worthington Elton 7 D Gascoigne K Gascoinge Elton 8 This would equal for each club Sum Of Points Points Awarded for event WLYC 5 1 Etherow 5 1 Chester 11 3 Elton 15 4 It could be then ran the same as the top healm with a number of discards etc..... I think this would encourage clubs to 'encourage' more boats to go to each event and create a team feeling to opens. I think it would be better running it with three boats however this would need a bit buy up to allow enough results to count. Wouldn't be good to say <insert your club name here> is the best Enterprise club in the North West and possibly have a nive trophy to put in your club room??? Sure something like this would be open to Sponsorship as with the top healm So........ Is there a place for this?? What do the powers that be think?? I also think it would be good to have junior healm awards for u-21's (juniors) etc........ even if it is just recognition on this site. Think it would promote inclusion in the open circuit that we have and promote the dinghy class as a whole accross the North West Thoughts????

Upto and including the Chester open we were averaging 17 boats/event, with 15 qualifiers for and end of season prize, which is great. If we could encourage even more club groups to take part even better. could top 20 in 2009. Tim
